What Do You Do When Your Child Says “I’m Bored?”

What do you do when your child says, “I’m bored”?”

Summer is upon us and your kids are expecting you to keep up with them for the next three months.

With the warm weather, swimming pools, bikes, friends playing over and the other 1,000 things to do outside, children still find themselves being “bored.”

So what do you do when your son or daughter is bored?

What do you do on the rainy days when you are stuck inside?

What do you do when your child “thinks” they are bored and are coming to you with ideas to keep them entertained?

I tend to turn to crafts on the rainy days, and sprinklers and water balloon fights when the weather is nice.

One of my favorite blog posts last year was titled “300 Things to do when your kids say “I’M BORED”” originally shared by blogger Jennifer Blackwell. Some of my favorite ideas she shared include:

  • Have a family watercolor night. Each person paints his or her favorite vacation spot or place the family has gone on an outing.
  • Picnic at a different park each week.
  • Make a family video of your summer. Tape fun things each week.
